a good photo can be taken from a smart phone. take a look below on some tips for what we are looking for in a reference photo.
A BAD PICTURE

A fuzzy/blurry picture can be quite challenging to draw from

a photo where the subjects eyes are covered wont show your pets character as well

a photo that's too zoomed out wont pick up enough detail
A good picture

Natural light shows fur colour most accurately

a clean camera (including phones) shows colours and details the best!

a high quality view of the eyes helps bringing the portrait to life
